Tarps are all spread out for the Japanese tradition of "Hana-mi" which
literally means flower watching. The tradition involves having a picnic
under the cherry trees and snacking on good food and often drinking
large amounts of alcohol. Many of the people here are reserving their
space at noon so that their colleagues can join them after work.
