I believe that children used to be added to one of their parents' passports, but
these days they are required to have their own. We are in the process of
applying for Karuna's passport, and we took this photo to use. It was rather
amusing when Hitomi took the photo in. We carefully followed the specified
measurements. We cropped the photo to 35mm x 45mm, with her face 27mm high.
We thought we had done a great job following the recommended measurements to
the millimeter. However, when Hitomi took the photos in and showed them to
the passport office, the clerk said that he wasn't sure if her cheeks would
fit into the photo after it was cropped further for the passport.
